HP Jetdirect print servers - overview

HP offers three different levels of firmware feature sets, so you can implement the solution that best meets your business needs. Choose from basic, value, or full feature solutions.

•The basic feature set is ideal for individual consumers and micro-business environments, offering good performance, easy set-up, and limited security features. It is not Jetdirect branded and supports a limited number of users, network operating systems, protocols, and security features. It does not include upgradeable firmware.

•The value feature set is designed for the small to medium business environment. It offers expanded support for network operating systems and protocols, good performance, basic management, and standard security features. It does not include upgradeable firmware.

•The full feature set is for peripherals in managed enterprise environments. It includes advanced security features, high performance, support for a broad set of network operating systems and protocols, enterprise management, and upgradeable firmware.

•Internal print servers: Internal print servers connect via an EIO slot for EIO-enabled printers. With the highest throughput speed in the industry, HP continues to dominate the EIO market. HP also offers solutions for IPv6 and IPv4 compatibility and advanced security including IPSEC, 802.1x authentication, password protection, and SNMPv3. HP’s gigabit performance, management capabilities with HP Web Jetadmin, and advanced security are unmatched by anyone in the industry

•External print servers: External print servers connect via a parallel or USB port. HP external print servers offer a wide variety of options, from full-featured HP Jetdirect print servers for your enterprise, to our most basic networking for home or small business use. HP external print servers are supported by most network ready HP printers and Multifunction products.

•Wireless print servers: Wireless print servers make printing easy for mobile printing professionals and include embedded, internal, and external solutions. If you are looking at moving to wireless in your office or home, look no further than HP.

•Embedded print servers: Embedded print servers featuring HP Jetdirect Fast Ethernet print server hardware components are now included on the formatter boards of many HP printers, MFPs, and digital sending devices.
