HP-UX 11i Virtual Partitions (vPars) is a soft partitioning technology within HP’s Virtual Server Environment that enables you to create multiple virtual servers or partitions within a single server or nPartition. As of April 2008, HP-UX 11i v1, v2 and v3 vPars can be run within the same nPartition.
Each virtual partition hosts its own instance of the HP-UX 11i Operating Environment (OE), as well as its own resources, applications, and users. The physical resources of the HP Integrity server are parsed among the virtual partitions it hosts. Dynamic CPU migration is available between vPars. With HP-UX 11i v3 Virtual Partitions, dynamic memory migration is also available.
HP-UX 11i Virtual Partitions provides software fault isolation, processor core granularity, and negligible overhead and enables you to:
