TechWise calculates HP-UX 11i v3 value and cost savings, notes fast user adoption

TechWise Research Inc., an independent primary market research firm, has published two research papers, concluding fast ROI for HP-UX 11i v3 upgrades and consolidation projects.

Quantifying the Total Cost of Upgrading HP-UX Environments from HP 9000 servers to HP Integrity servers  (473 KB, PDF)
Posted with permission from TechWise Research, Inc.

This paper depicts costs savings achieved by replacing a single HP-UX 9000 server with a HP-UX Integrity server.  The results from 232 customer surveys show that the majority of companies view Integrity servers to be as good, or better, than HP 9000 servers.  This study also shows that HP-UX on Integrity is just as easy to manage and as reliable as HP-UX on HP 9000.

The Benefits of Using HP Integrity Servers to Consolidate HP 9000 Servers (500 KB, PDF)
Posted with permission from TechWise Research, Inc.

This paper highlights the customer savings that can be achieved when consolidating workloads running on HP 9000 servers with HP-UX on Integrity server with HP-UX 11i v3, with savings attributable to the features of HP-UX 11i v3, HP-UX 11i virtualization technologies and the power of today’s Integrity blade and rackmount servers.

In this study, 72% of respondents surveyed indicated that they will likely purchase one or more Integrity servers by December 2008 specifically to implement server virtualization.

See the value of virtualization to HP-UX 11i users

Virtualization gives you the ability to pool and share computing resources automatically according to business needs. That optimizes utilization, and getting more from less in turn lowers TCO.

Customers tell us they value the improved time-to-solution most: virtualized machines—whether vPars or Virtual Machines—are usually available to roll out new applications. That means you buy a new server when you need the capacity, not because you need an isolated system for a new application. That shortens time-to-solution by the length of your system purchasing cycle. That's improved ROI.
